Data & Science
Stations: 170+ BCWS Datamart stations (pre-computed FFMC/DMC/DC/ISI/BUI/FWI from BC Wildfire Service) · CWFIS border stations · SWOB fallback · Open-Meteo NWP last resort.
FWI System: Full CFFDRS stack — Fire Weather Indices (FFMC, DMC, DC, ISI, BUI, FWI, DSR) + Fire Behaviour Prediction for all 16 fuel types (C1–C7, D1, M1–M4, O1a/O1b, S1–S3). Van Wagner 1987; Forestry Canada ST-X-3.
Spring startup: Van Wagner (1985) overwinter DC carry-over algorithm by Fire Centre — maritime precip recharge applied to coastal and northwest zones.
14-day forecast: NAEFS ensemble (CWFIS WFS) for 35 BC stations. FBP fire behaviour calculated for each forecast day at peak burn hour (~14:00 PDT).
Danger scale: BCWS 5-class (Very Low / Low / Moderate / High / Extreme). Thresholds per BCWS CFFDRS Implementation Guide (2022).
